As part of the public programme of Gesa Troch’s  Soloshow The Shells’ Dresses at Studio Peragine in Hamburg Young Valley Soil were invited with notes of absence to the finissage.

The performance is based on texts that were written as notes of absence in various contexts such as artistic work, wage labour or friendships. The Notes of Absence are stored in a standard office folder in which they are mixed with transcribed voice messages that reveal the collective's internal communications. Various everyday challenges emerge from these transcribed messages, addressing, for example, the general conditions of artistic work and the collective reflection and formulation of a practice, but also personal frustrations or observations.
