Description:
What unspoken rules apply in art spaces? Whom do they serve, and who is excluded? The workshop ON SITE––VOR ORT takes a look at the spatial conditions that create social boundaries in exhibitions. It assumes that art spaces are not just empty containers for the charisma of artworks, but are themselves filled with certain values and expectations.
The workshop will address these conventions by exploring the concrete conditions in the M.1 and the spatial situation that the current exhibition creates. Together, experiences, expectations and norms that determine the space will be discussed, in order to then develop alternative approaches and perspectives - perhaps in the form of newly arranged text and sound material.
The aim is to open up a space of possibilities in which boundaries are broken down and other voices are articulated, countering prevailing norms. We are looking forward to hearing what has been yet unheard!
The workshop will be conducted by Francisca Markus and Agnieszka Roguski.
